Dewey Beach"A Way Of Life"
by JoAnne Witham

Over the bridge, there is a place, a place we love to be

It's at the beach, only eight blocks long, the tiny town of Dewey.

It's all relaxed, it's so laid back, there's good times to be had

And what happens in Dewey, stays in Dewey, so you even can be bad.

On Friday nights, we start at Mike's for a slushy frozen drink

Then to the Lighthouse for Taco Toss and more of what you think.

Finally hours later, we stumble to our second home

The best place called the Starboard, from there we never roam.

Somehow all too soon, it seems, it's shouted out "Last call"

At this point it doesn't matter though, we're just trying not to fall.

So we stumble to the pizza place for a slice or two,

Then drink some more, or just pass out, whatever we want to do.

Eventually though, we do pass out and the next day when we wake

We start all over and do it again just to avoid the shakes.

This time though, we start at the Cork and jam with our favorite band

But because of the crowds, it's mandatory to have a beer in each hand.

Where to next? Back to the Board, our favorite watering hole

We get some drinks, but we don't pay, we're really on a roll!

And all too soon, it seems again, it's shouted out "Last call"

The same routine we go through again and stumble but don't fall.

This time though, we do pass out, tomorrow's a big day

Mimosas, beer and Bloody Marys! It's suicide they say.

After spending most of Sunday at our favorite bar,

We head on down to Northbeach to hear Jefe play guitar.

Sometimes when that's over, to the Rudder we will go

But instead more likely, at the Starboard we will show.

And when the weekend's over, I have to let out a screech

It's then I finally realize....

WE NEVER MADE IT TO THE BEACH!
